How to report on My Team’s data using Role Hierarchy

What is a Role Hierarchy


Role hierarchy in Salesforce is used to drive vertical sharing. Let’s say you have just implemented a solution used by a group of people and their manager. In order for the manager to inherit record visibility of its team, a 2 level role hierarchy has been setup.

Now that record visibility is established, how can the manager report on his team’s data through the same role hierarchy?


Building a report using Role Hierarchy


Reporting as a manager on his own team is fairly straightforward.

To report on My Team’s Cases, explore the filters and change the Show Me filter to My role-based team’s cases.
Do not mistake with the My case’s team cases which is more related to the Case Team concept only, not the role hiearchy.

Another example to report on My Team’s Accounts based on the Role Hierarchy, select the My team’s accounts value in the Shoz Me filter.
